How to get your student identification card

Log into here to upload a passport-style photo of yourself.

Tip: Your photo should have a plain background and with your head and shoulders clearly visible. If the photo you provide is not suitable (e.g. too small, taken in profile or partial profile or with an inappropriate background, pose or accessories), you will be requested to complete your photo again.

Once it has been verified you will receive a notification that your card is ready, join the queue to make an appointment to collect your student ID card from the campus you selected. Don’t forget to bring some photo ID (such as a driver’s licence or passport).

Lost your student ID card? StudentHQ can replace stolen or lost student cards. A replacement fee may apply.

Head coverings in photos

You can wear a head covering in your student ID photo for religious reasons, but we need to see clearly both edges of your face and from the bottom of your chin to the top of your forehead.

Contact studentHQ if you have questions or concerns about our requirements. We use the Australian Government passport photo guidelines for ID card photos.

Online access and your student login

Once you’ve enrolled with us, the Current Students page will be the home base for all your university needs. You can:

  • make changes to your enrolment
  • update your study plan
  • access your fee statements
  • check your student email
  • view your assignment and exam results.

Your username is your student ID number. You can use the password management portal to create or reset your password.

Keep your Swinburne student ID card safe

Your student ID grants access to various student facilities including the library and Late Lab. It also gets you student discounts at a variety of cafes and eateries in and around campus.

You’ll need it with you when you sit exams — so keep it secret, keep it safe!

Public transport concession cards

Eligible students are entitled to concession fares on board all train, tram and bus services with a PTV Tertiary Student ID.

Are you an Open Universities Australia student?

Open Universities Australia (OUA) does not issue student ID cards. Swinburne does, however, issue ID cards to OUA students. Once your enrolment is completed you may request a student ID card, without a photo, and it will be mailed to you.

Are you a Swinburne Online student?

If you're studying through Swinburne Online, contact your student advisor to get your student ID card. A student ID card, without a photo, will be sent by mail when your enrolment has been completed.
