Orientation is your chance to gather the tools you need for your study journey ahead. The program will help you get ready for class, connect with your academics and peers, and discover the services available to support you throughout your studies.

As an international student, you will also be connected with key support services to help you navigate life at Swinburne, both if you’re studying onshore in Australia or offshore from your home country.

Before you start your studies at Swinburne, we will email you with all of the details you need to participate in your Orientation, so keep an eye on your inbox for more information. You can also find out more at our main Orientation page.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with us at Library and studentHQ.

  • Find your people

Join a club, volunteer for a cause you care about or get involved in one of our online events to connect with your Swinburne community and find your people.

These include help with enrolment, help with finding a place to live, and special sessions for English-language (ELICOS), UniLink and Foundation Year students.

ELICOS Orientation sessions are currently being held online via Zoom. You’ll receive an invite to your orientation session by email with all the details.

To help you prepare for your orientation session, please:

  1. Make sure that you can access Zoom on your device

  2. Set up your password

  3. Provide your current contact details to pathwayssupport@swinburne.edu.au

  4. Set up your Swinburne student email

  5. Access the current students section on the Swinburne webpage

Doing this before your orientation session will help you feel more prepared to start classes, and allow us to help you on the day if you need assistance. If you have any questions please contact our team at pathwayssupport@swinburne.edu.au.

Orientation for UniLink and Foundation Year students is currently running online in Canvas.

After you enrol in your course, you will receive an email inviting you to your online Orientation events. You will be able to access a range of events and resources to help you prepare for class, which you can view anytime from your desktop, tablet or mobile device.

  1. Log in to Canvas. Canvas is Swinburne's online learning management system where you'll also attend your classes, while we transition to on-campus study. Your login is the same username and password that you use to log in to your student email. Haven't set up your login yet? Follow this guide.
