Join an industry that’s growing, fast

Swinburne’s postgraduate financial planning courses open doors and boost your skills in an increasingly in-demand profession as a growing cohort of Australians plan for retirement and younger people realise the importance of managing their assets.

Go deep with our FASEA approved and industry accredited courses

To become a financial planner or advisor, you need to complete a course approved by the Financial Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) – all our postgraduate financial planning courses are FASEA approved and professionally accredited through FPA Financial Planning Education Council.

Swinburne’s partnership with the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), allows you to combine your Master of Financial Planning with the CFP® Certification Program. Complete the final CFP® Certification Unit as your elective choice and, on graduation, you’ll meet the educational requirements of the CFP® Certification Program. You can then apply for the CFP® designation once you’ve also met industry experience requirements.

Swinburne’s strong industry links

In our financial planning courses, business owners and practising industry experts in areas like estate planning, insurance, superannuation and investment will contribute to your learning. We’ll also take you to industry roadshows, events and partner offices and organise for you to sit with financial planners while they work.

Practical learning for the real world

We use experiences, like role-playing, to hone your ability to identify and meet clients’ social, cultural and financial needs. You’ll learn to provide clear and transparent advice based on ethical decision-making and high levels of care. You’ll explore investments, retirement and insurance planning, financial analysis and money management, using the XPLAN financial software.

Postgraduate scholarships

Current members of CPA Australia or the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) who are studying a postgraduate course in Financial Planning are eligible for a 15 per cent reduction in tuition fees.
