This information is available to download in a word document
This page contains relevant information and resources for students concerned about sleeping difficulties.
Sleeping difficulties, such as insomnia can be related to a number of physical and psychological causes. For this reason it is important to discuss the problems you are having with a doctor or another health professional if they persist. A lack of helpful sleep can also cause other problems, such as difficulty concentrating or impaired memory so it is important that the cause of your sleeping difficulties are identified and treated accordingly, before they become more serious.
Often people with insomnia, or who have difficulty getting to sleep can turn to sleeping pills (or benzodiazepines), which may assist them in getting the rest they need. Such medication should only be used with the assistance of a medical practitioner however, as they can be ineffective or problematic if used for an extended period of time or without consultation with a prescribing doctor.
