Overview

This unit aims to provide students with relevant and meaningful industry experience through completion of a project or deliverable for an industry linked or relevant project. Students will work on authentic business issues or challenges and work individually and as part of a team to provide a solution to an industry relevant problem. The unit will contribute to the development of the student’s employability and exposure to industry and industry connections.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

Content

Students will be placed in one of two tracks as determined by the convenor through specified criteria including activities in the Career Success Program, academic performance and interview. The different tracks provide for a variation in the modes of client interaction:

  • Undertake an industry linked project that includes understanding client briefs and managing clients’ expectations
  • Working in a team and/or with stakeholders to achieve a required outcome by a certain date – negotiation, team roles, team dynamics, collaboration
  • Reflective practice to inform development and improvement and in some cases with the added support of professional coaches
  • Organisational culture and structure
  • Leadership behaviour and practice
