Overview

This unit enables students to search, appraise and integrate research evidence into clinical practice. Students learn to investigate, critically analyse, synthesize and communicate a body of evidence at a professional level, related to a clinical question of relevance to contemporary occupational therapy practice.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Construct a well-developed clinical question and apply advanced knowledge to undertake a comprehensive search of the literature using a range of data bases
  • Select relevant studies using professional judgement and apply established research appraisal skills to critically analyse the evidence
  • Produce an evidence-based practice report synthesising and communicating findings of the evidence review to a wider occupational therapy audience
