Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Demonstrate high-level counselling skills to engage with a range of clients to create purposeful contracts for couple counselling that allow comprehensive assessments, case formulations, and evidence-based treatment plans to be developed
  • Analyse and appraise the limitations and constraints of working with couples and evaluate these as part of the supervisory process
  • Differentiate the needs and issues of the couple counsellor and those relevant to the client
  • Design and implement a supervision contract and perform according to agency policies and procedures and ethical guidelines
  • Reflect on, and appraise therapeutic assessment and practice and communicate professionally to other colleagues in written and oral format
