Students with National Commitments at Swinburne
Swinburne is proud to support students who are involved with activities that are of national interest, scope or concern by ensuring that they are not disadvantaged academically or financially as a consequence of their endeavour.
Recognised student cohorts
There are currently two recognised specialist student cohorts:
- Students who are members of the Defence Reserves (within the meaning of the Defence Reserve Service (Protection) Act 2001)
- Students who are defined as Elite Athletes (within the principles prescribed by the Australian Sports Commission and the Victorian Institute of Sport)
The Vice-Chancellor may determine the eligibility of other specialist student cohorts.
Support for recognised student cohorts
A student who meets the recognised specialist student cohort requirements, may be eligible for flexible study options, to support the balance of national and academic commitment. Support may include, but is not limited to, assistance in relation to:
- attendance requirements
- assessment requirements
- availability and format of study material.
