Applying to Graduate

In order to graduate, you need to fill in a form to receive your testamur (certificate/award) and/or a letter of completion. This should be done during your final semester of study, before you sit final exams/assessments and before receive your results.

 


Closing dates

Application for Award/Graduate should be submitted by the closing date:

  • All students: 17 July 2009 for October 2009 Ceremonies.
  • International students: 25 September 2009 for December 2009 Ceremonies.

 


Steps to graduating

Step 1: Apply to graduate

  • Fill in PDF Application for Award/Graduation
  • Submit application form via fax, mail or in person at a Student Information Centre.
  • If you are applying for more than one award, you need to submit an PDF Application for Award/Graduation for each award from which you would like to graduate.
  • If you need a document to indicate that you are due to complete your studies soon, you may apply for a PDF Letter of Completion. You can use this document until you receive your testamur at your graduation.

 

Step 2: Confirmation

  • If you included an email address on your application to graduate, within three working days you will receive an email, confirming that your application has been received.

 

Step 3: Acknowledgement

  • You will receive an acknowledgement letter in the mail, approximately two weeks after you submitted your application.
  • This letter confirms the details of your application. Please review the following details, as this could impact on your graduation:

    • Spelling of your name
    • Your address
    • Details of your course
    • Ceremony details, such as the date or details of the mail out

    If you notice any errors, please contact us as soon as possible, but no later than 10 working days prior to your ceremony.

 

Step 4: Eligibility

  • You will receive a letter stating whether you are eligible to graduate or not. You will receive this approximately three weeks prior to your graduation.

    • Eligible students will receive confirmation of the graduation. If they are attending a ceremony, this will include a graduation guide and guest tickets.
    • Ineligible students will receive an explanation of the reason they are deemed in eligible to graduate. If you have any questions about this, please contact your Faculty or School administration office.

  • Check your Excel Application status. This document is updated regularly, and will show you whether you are eligible to graduate.

 

Step 5: Graduation

  • You will then receive your testamur and two copies of your academic transcript, either:

    • In person, by attending the graduation ceremony, or
    • Via mail, for students graduating in absentia, or for Certificate III and below students.
