Applying to Graduate

To graduate, you need to apply online at My Graduation, which is accessed through My.Swinburne.

When to apply and eligibility

You should apply to graduate during your final semester of study, before sitting for your final exams/assessments and before the official result release date.

Be sure to complete the online application before the closing date for your intended graduation.

How we determine if you are eligible to graduate

Your Faculty or School will confirm your eligibility with the Graduation department at least four weeks prior
to the ceremony date or mail out date.



Important closing dates

Applications for Award/Graduation need to be submitted by the following closing dates.

Late applications will not be accepted.

If you would like to attend a ceremony, it is important you apply early. If you do not apply to graduate within six months of completing your studies, your award will be conferred in absentia. Your certificate will be mailed to you, which means you will not be able to attend a later ceremony for that award.

Cancellations

If you wish to defer to a later ceremony, you must advise the Student Information Centre or Graduation department by email or submitting an Amendment to Application for Award/Graduation at least 1 month prior to the ceremony.

You can only defer your graduation once.

If you provide less than 1 month's notice, you will graduate in absentia and your certificate will be mailed two weeks after the ceremony. There is no refund in this circumstance. You will not be able to attend a later ceremony for that award.
