Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP)
Students who are enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place (formerly known as a HECS place) pay a student contribution amount to Swinburne. A student enrols in a course of study (eg. Bachelor of Arts) and enrolment within that course is in a series of units of study for each semester or term. The Government has determined, for Commonwealth supported students, the broad bands in which units are grouped. The band in which the unit is grouped determines the student contribution amount for that unit.
The following table outlines the annual student contribution amount for a full time student who is enrolled in a standard full-time course (full-time EFTSL = 1.0) where all units are within the same band. Undergraduate students typically undertake 8 units per year, each having an EFTSL value of 0.125. For example if a unit has an EFTSL of 0.125, then the fee charged is 0.125 multiplied by the Student Contribution Amount.
Students who were undertaking study prior to 2005 under the HECS arrangements will be able continue study under those HECS student contribution regimes until the end of 2008, unless they discontinue their enrolment without formal leave of absence or complete their course of study.
There are a range of payment options available, including discounts for up-front payment and deferred payment plans.
