Skills Reform

Skills Reform is to be implemented on 1 July 2009. The Skills Reform initiative changes the fees and charges for course enrolments in which study is commenced after 1 July 2009. The sections below provide the information that will assist you to understand and calculate TAFE Enrolment Fees under the the new Skills Reform fee arrangements and the existing pre-July 2009 fee arrangements.  

Additional information about census dates, withdrawals and refund policies will become available as Swinburne implements Skills Reform. Some of the information may be reviewed and updated.

The TAFE Enrolment Fees information is not relevant to international students. International students should refer to Swinburne International for fees.

 

Pre-July 2009 TAFE enrolment fees

Students who commenced study in a course prior to 1 July 2009 and remained continuously-enrolled (did not have an unapproved break in study) in that course will continue under the existing fee arrangements. This section will assist you in calculating enrolment fees relating to this type of course enrolment.

Post-July 2009 TAFE enrolment fees

Students who commence study in a course after 1 July 2009 or who are re-commencing after an unapproved break in study will be enrolled / re-enrolled with the new Skills Reform fee arrangements.

With the new Skills Reform fee arrangements you need to determine the Course Category to which your course applies and your Eligibility for government-support. This will determine which enrolment fees apply to your Post-July 2009 course enrolment.

* Note that as these fees apply for a half-year period the yearly fee maximum applies on a pro rata basis. For example, the intended yearly maximum of $500 for Foundation Skills has been amended to $250
