Getting On-line @ Swinburne
How to access the Swinburne Computer Network
Once you have received a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), your enrolment has been finalised, and you are automatically granted a username and temporary password. Your user name is your Swinburne Student Id Number e.g. 3945678. ID Numbers are comprised of 7 characters (Note: any letters are case sensitive.) Your temporary password will be your date of birth in the following format – DDMMYY, e.g. if your birth date is 1st February 1988, your password would 010288. For security reasons, on your first login you will be asked to set your security questions.
My.Swinburne
My.Swinburne provides access to the commonly used Swinburne University of Technology applications via the internet. You can access My.Swinburne from your home computer or other computer, including a Swinburne Library computer.
Blackboard
This is an on–line teaching and learning tool for you to obtain relevant and up to date unit of study information. You will be able to access Blackboard on the My.Swinburne website. There is also a Blackboard Help website to assist students.

Student Email Account
Official University communication will be sent to you via your Swinburne Student ID Email Address.
Your Student ID Email Address consists of the seven digits of your Student ID Number followed by @student.swin.edu.au. Email contact will only be to this official Student ID Email Address and email contact by Swinburne will not be made to any other private email address you may use. You are expected to check your Student ID Email Address at least weekly to ensure that you receive important information in relation to your studies.
The University will continue to use other forms of communication for some types of correspondence. The Student Electronic Communication Policy can be found on the Swinburne Policies and Procedures Directory.
Organising Your Timetable
Allocate+ is the web based class allocation system used to obtain your timetable. Detailed information about time tabling is available from the Timetable website.
Prepare to Study
If this is your first enrolment you will be enrolled in the Prepare to Study subject. This unit of study provides guidance about studying at Swinburne and about various Swinburne support services available to you. We recommend that you access “Prepare to Study” via Blackboard TAFE in the first week or two of your study. There is no charge for this unit.
Withdrawing / Amending Your Enrolment
Cert IV & below
Once you have enrolled, if you need to amend or withdraw from your enrolment, you should see the staff in the School Administration office for further information as well as assistance in making an appointment with the Program coordinator to discuss any educational implications of the proposed changes. Teaching department approval must be gained before any amendments can be made.
If you add courses or units to your enrolment you may be required to pay additional fees.
Refund Guidelines
To be eligible for a partial refund of fees, you must submit an official Withdrawal from Course Form (for the entire course) or Amendment to Enrolment Form (for unit withdrawal) within four weeks of the official Course Commencement Date. The mimimum fee for your course category will be retained.

Diploma & Advanced Diploma

Refund Guidelines

If you have a VET FEE-HELP loan and withdraw on or before the census date you will not incur a VET FEE-HELP debt for that course/unit.

Census Dates (Diploma & Advanced Diploma only)
If you are enrolled in a Diploma / Advanced Diploma you may withdraw from a course or unit of study without financial penalty until the census date. If you fail to withdraw by this date you will incur fees for your enrolment.

Student E-Packs
Those students who enrolled on-line were provided with a link to download their E-Pack. Your Student E-Pack provides you with information about your course and School and other useful information such as how to collect your Student ID Card, how to get online at Swinburne and how to organise your timetable.
If you omitted to download your E-Pack previously, you can still re-log into Enrolment Online and download your E-Pack now.
Student News
Make sure you keep up to date with all the latest events and information you need to know as a Swinburne student by reading 'Student News'.
Each fortnight you will receive an email via your Student Id email address linking you to the current edition of 'Student News'.
