Deferring Your Offer

Higher Education

You can apply to defer your offer for up to two calendar years. Your offer will lapse if you enrol in another program during the period of deferment.

Deferment is not permitted in:

  • Information Technology Scholarship Program,
  • Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships.

Deferment does not apply to research students or to students enrolled in single units of study.

To apply for deferment, you must complete an 'Application to Defer an Offer' form and lodge it with your Faculty Administration Office. The form is available at:

Important: Submit this form if you are applying to defer your program and you are:

  • not already enrolled in a program - on or before the scheduled day of enrolment or,
  • already enrolled in a program - on or before the first Census Date of the program.

VTAC Applicants

You are eligible to defer the commencement of your enrolment for a maximum of one academic year, at the discretion of your Department Manager. You must submit a Deferral Application form to your School on or before your scheduled day of enrolment. International students should contact Swinburne International.
