Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)

What is the Special Entry Access Scheme?

The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) is offered through VTAC for applicants who have been unable to reach their full educational potential or who may have restricted access to the course of their choice because of their life circumstances.

SEAS allows VTAC selection officers to grant extra consideration to applicants for course entry, but it is not used as a replacement for course entry requirements.

Eligibility

To be eligible for SEAS you must:

  • have an Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or hold a permanent Australian visa
  • have made an application for a course through VTAC
  • have fulfilled all course Extra Requirements as specified in the VTAC Guide

How do I apply?

The SEAS application is available through MyInfo on the VTAC website after you have lodged a VTAC course application.

Applications are open from 1 August to 11 October 2011.

SEAS Categories

The university will consider applications for special entry in the following categories within SEAS:

Category 1: Personal information and location

This Category is open to applicants who wish to be considered for circumstances that can be based upon information already provided in their VTAC course application. These circumstances include:

  • Age (at the time of enrolment into tertiary study)
  • Recognition as an Indigenous Australian
  • Living or school postcode - to identify applicants from rural or isolated areas or applicants who will need to move to undertake tertiary study
  • Under-represented school - to identify applicants from schools defined by the University as being under-represented at Swinburne
  • Gender – to identify applicants for courses that have historically been under-represented by women at Swinburne i.e. courses in the area of Engineering, Information Technology or Science

To be considered for any of the above circumstances for which you meet the requirements you will need to give VTAC permission to use the relevant information from your VTAC course application.
