Vice-Chancellors Award (Swinburne)

The Vice Chancellor's Awards scheme celebrates outstanding contribution and work performance of Swinburne University of Technology staff. The annual awards recognise individuals and teams at Swinburne University of Technology. Applications are administered through Strategic Planning and Quality (SPQ) and SPL provide support to staff groups and individuals intending to apply.

OFFICE FOR LEARNING AND TEACHING

On 16 November 2011 the establishment of the Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) was announced, along with details of awards and grants that will be offered in 2012. The OLT will replace the operations of the ALTC, which officially ceased operations in September.

Program Information and Closing Dates
The following programs will operate in 2012:

1. Learning and Teaching Grants Scheme
Funding is provided for innovation and development, strategic priorities, seed projects, leadership, extension and special initiatives grants.

Round 1: Applications close 1 March 2012, Swinburne deadline 7 February 2012

Round 2: Applications close 3 August 2012, Swinburne deadline 16 July 2012

2. Citations and Awards
The Australian Awards for University Teaching comprise citations and four award types recognising teaching excellence and outstanding contributions to student learning:

Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, nominations close 15 June 2012, Swinburne deadline 14 May 2012

Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning, nominations close 20 July 2012, Swinburne deadline 29 June 2012

Awards for Teaching Excellence, nominations close 20 July 2012, Swinburne deadline 29 June 2012

Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year, nominations close 20 July 2012, Swinburne deadline 29 June 2012

3. Fellowships
Up to 5 national teaching fellowships, up to 5 mid-career fellowships, and a number of secondments to the Office will be offered.

Go to the Office of Learning and Teaching website and download the appropriate guidelines document and form

STEP 3

Discuss your application with your team and your Faculty. If appropriate this includes external collaborators

STEP 4

Submit your application to Dr Simone Buzwell sbuzwell@swin.edu.au by the internal due date
NB: Each grant and award has a different Swinburne due date (listed above)

STEP 5

Swinburne’s Learning Teaching & Scholarship Advisory Group (LTSAG) review all applications and provide feedback.
Applicants have the opportunity to revise their applications and resubmit to LTSAG for endorsement prior to submitting to the OLT.
