Dr James Hamlyn-Harris MACS is Deputy Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering in the School of Software and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology.
His qualifications include a Master of IT (Internet Computing) and a Graduate Certificate in eForensics.
He teaches computer programming, data communications and internet security and manages the Swinburne Cyber Security Club and Swinburne's teams in the national Cyber Security Challenge Australia. He supervises research into delay-tolerant networks, network security and internet of things.
He is course director of Swinburne's Master of Cybersecurity.

DTNs for disaster relief zones: Development of protocols and software to facillitate Delay-Tolerant Networks using stationary data nodes (servers) and mobile data mules (clients) for deployoment in disaster areas where no internet infrastruxture exists.

Visualisation of Network Flow Reports: A student will investigate visualisation techniques and customising software to display information obtained from GSM and ISP flow reports. The student will be working under the direction of and industry partner:The output will be a report and customized software that takes as input flow data and displays it in an easily-understandable way
