Michael Gilding is Associate Professor of Sociology and Director
of the Australian Centre for Emerging Technologies (ACETS) at Swinburne
University of Technology. He is the author of three books: The Making
and Breaking of the Australian Family (Allen & Unwin 1991), Australian
Families: a comparative perspective (Addison Wesley Longman 1997)
and Secrets of the Super Rich (HarperCollins 2002).
He is currently conducting a major cross-national study of biotechnology
entrepreneurs and clusters.
Other research interests include biotechnology and the family,
public perceptions of technological change, economic sociology and
social class.
