Merryn Ekberg holds a PhD in the sociology of science and technology
from the University of Melbourne and is currently a research fellow
at the Centre for Risk and Community Safety at RMIT University. Prior
to commencing her PhD, she worked in cancer research at the Walter
and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
Her research
is focused on exploring the ethical, legal, social and political
implications of medical genetics and in particular, measuring public
perceptions of genetics, exploring the impact of intellectual property
rights on the conduct and costs of biomedical science, assessing
media representations of biomedical research and evaluating alternative
models for governing genetic risk.
