Cell biology

The cell biology research area has strong ties with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where we're investigating immune signalling using advanced forms of microscopy.

We explore how blood cell signalling influences fate decisions during development and immune responses. This will help us improve immunotherapies for cancer and infectious diseases and understand how leukaemia occurs when development goes wrong.

A key part of our research approach is to develop and apply new imaging and computational approaches to these biological questions.

We have laboratories at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Swinburne University of Technology.
