How can I get a Swinburne student ID card?

You will receive ID card paperwork once you are enrolled and your fees are paid.

For students studying this course from a distant, interstate or overseas location, you will be issued with an ID number after enrolment. You will also receive a Swinburne ID card, however it will not have a photographic identifier.

Can I use the Swinburne libraries?

Yes, you will receive a Swinburne student ID card upon enrolment. This card enables you to borrow books and use the facilities of the Swinburne libraries on each campus.

For students studying remotely and unable to access the Swinburne library, there is a reciprocal borrowing program available at most other institutes and universities.

What is the policy for late work?

Unless a student has negotiated any other arrangement with their tutor, work received late will incur a penalty of 10% each day for the first five days it is late. If it is more than five days late it will receive no more than 50% of the allocated grade and minimal tutor comment.

Assessments which are distributed and received online often have a cut-off date set by your tutor. Assessments after this cut-off cannot be accepted online and another option will need to be negotiated with your tutor.

All assessments must be completed within the weeks of delivery of each subject. Once the subject is completed you may not be able to submit work.

Can I attend the Swinburne graduation ceremonies?

Yes. Graduation takes place approximately 6 months after you have completed your studies. Graduation is not automatic. You must apply to graduate, and pay the required fee, by completing an "application for award" form.

Graduation ceremonies are held twice yearly in Melbourne in May and October. Invitations to attend are forwarded once award applications are processed.

Once I have finished the course, where will it lead?

That is up to you! You will have new skills and an academic qualification that can help change or advance your career. Some students decide to go on to further study, but what you get out of the course will depend on the personal reasons you had to achieve it.

As a Swinburne student you can also make use of our Careers and Employment services and resources.
