Staff profiles


Dianne Bolton – Fleet performance management

Dianne has taught on various international MBA programs in the areas of strategy, general management, organisational development (with a focus on complexity innovation and change) and business research methods. Currently she is Director of Postgraduate Programs and Program Coordinator of the Master of Commerce and Master of Business Management Programs.

Previously Dianne held the position of General Manager Accreditation and Integration at Mt Eliza Business School where she was also Director of the Executive MBA Program. She has taught for the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW), at ANU, the University of Birmingham (UK) and the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.


Alfred Arthur – Financial decision making and risk

Alf is a highly experienced lecturer combining extensive industry experience with outstanding academic research and presentation skills. Alf has lectured for Swinburne for over 10 years. His content expertise covers financial management, project management, corporate governance, risk and compliance, government/public service, defence, operations management, occupational health and safety, process improvement and marketing.

Alf is adept at knowledge transfer and group dynamics to ensure that each and every student achieves the level they are capable of. Alf draws on over 27 years of industry experience at the senior management level with work across the fleet management industry including; Daimler Chrysler, Kenworth, Linfox and Australian Automotive Air.



Jill Bamforth – Managing in a complex world

Jill has a background in business development in the telecommunications industry. Jill now teaches across multiple business areas, both at Swinburne and abroad.

Her current research interests include money management (the topic of her PhD which is due for completion in 2011) and how educational pedagogy affects student performance.



Jim BurrowsJim Burrows – Project management

Jim spent 17 years in the Royal Air Force as an aeronautical engineer and manager, achieving a Masters in Systems Engineering, before joining the corporate world in 1994. Since that time Jim has held many senior roles including; Chief Engineer, then Manufacturing Manager, for Note Printing Australia, National Logistics Manager for Amcor Food Cans, Managing Director for Normalair-Garrett Australia – a cluster of manufacturing, repair and distribution business in the global aerospace and automotive sectors, and General Manager (Vic) for Chubb Security Services. 

Jim is now enjoying a full “semi-retirement” workload consulting to industry and lecturing with Swinburne.
