"The Communications management unit was fantastic, I loved it. I didn’t realise how out of touch with reality I was!
It would have been good to study the topics covered over a longer period of time to really get a grasp of the different social media tools available out there.”
Paula Creek

Department of Primary Industries
“This course really opened my eyes to a whole new world beyond the everyday “EA/PA” role, including areas like professional development, project management and networking.
The course provided me with valuable tools and initiatives which led to me running a conference where I was able to share this knowledge with others in the industry.
It is wonderful to see that EAs and PAs now have a course specifically tailored to their needs and I would highly recommend it to anyone working in this profession.”
Denise Owens

"I have learned so much and gained confidence in my administrative abilities which in turn, has really helped my self esteem.
Although it was quite a challenge at times, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and it has since helped me gain a promotion in my workplace.”

Cheryl Douyere

I feel the Graduate Certificate in Business (Executive Administration) has given me confidence to pursue my career goals and has given me numerous networking opportunities.
The lecturers were wonderfully supportive and it was great to get to know the other students via Swinburne chat rooms or at EA/PA functions I attended.
More and more employers are looking for people with formal qualifications and I have found this course is highly regarded in the workplace.
My graduate certificate has been framed and proudly hangs in my new office.”
Lainey Carr

“The continuing relationships I have with my classmates have been one of the most rewarding aspects of undertaking this course; their knowledge, support, enthusiasm and laughter being infinite.
After graduating, I realised how much this course has given me both personally and professionally, it’s immeasurable.
Professional development is essential in the current market.

“I was able to put the skills and experiences I developed from this course into practice when interviewing for an EA position – to which I was then appointed!
The course has taught me to manage workloads and priorities, process improve and streamline, and overall, my extremely busy role work!
I’ve since been asked to consider coaching for other EAs, some of who are looking to study this course. “
Janine Robertson

“I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this course from start to finish.
It was all very relevant and the lecturers were outstanding. Since commencing the course and adding this to my CV, I’ve been amazed by the difference it has made when applying for jobs.
I’m now working for a great Managing Director in a fantastic company which places great emphasis on its people.
It is precisely the role I aimed to be in once I achieved my qualification.”
Sarah Earey
Marketing Assistant
“I really enjoyed and befitted from the computer aspect of this course, especially web design.
I chose to study marketing as my elective and found this beneficial to my position.
I’m now working as a Marketing Assistant which involves coordinating conferences and product launches, keeping travel budgets, booking all travel and accommodation and the distribution of sales material to clients.
My advice to potential students is to be prepared for the workload especially if you are working full time. However, it is a very worthwhile commitment and very beneficial in the workplace.”
Melissa Payne
National Education Officer
"I feel that the Graduate Certificate in Business Management (Executive Administration) is the best program offered by AIOP.
There are only 4 subjects to complete and you can do it online.
I actually completed this last year. I work full time with young children and being able to do it online was fantastic.
I could not fault the Lecturers - they provided so much support for those that have not studied in a long time."
Rebecca Wall
"At the Corporate PA Summits in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne I used the tips and hints I researched and used from my last uni assignment, in the subject Organisational function and dynamics, to ensure I didn't bore 200 EAs with "death by PowerPoint".
"My feedback was great and I have been asked to speak at a Perth conference in December."
Emma Simonsen
One of our clients requested we present a work plan in the form of a Gantt chart. As a result of undertaking the Project management component of the Communications Management unit, I felt confident to undertake this task. The subject has shown me the relevance of this course to the 'real world'.
Jillian Jones
MBM508 Communications management, without doubt has been really been extremely valuable for me. It has made me take a conscious look at where and how social media tools are being used in my workplace – something I was completely oblivious to before. I am learning so much more about what is happening at work since being signed in to Yammer!
I have a much greater appreciation for social media and how it has become the fabric of just about all commercial enterprises, whether it is a small business or a major global corporation. It has become as essential as a telephone once was and the most favoured form of communication – only on a much more sophisticated level.
Aside from that, I have, for the first time really started to recognise how we communicate is changing, not only in terms of the medium we use (ie; social media tools), but the manner in which it is done. There is definitely a stronger emphasis on conversation and collaboration as opposed to just articulating information. It is extremely important to be aware of, and understand, that today’s social etiquette in the way we communicate, is changing.

After an extensive search of a good risk course, I finally found Swinburne's Risk Spectrum subject. It is an excellent subject that perfectly blends theoretical principles with practical application. This is further enhanced by the extensive practical experience of the lecturer who frequently draws on his own experience to illustrate complex theoretical concepts, in conjunction with the broad work experience of the other students.
If you are looking for a risk subject, then I strongly recommend you look at the risk options that Swinburne University provides, as they may be exactly what you are looking for.
