How to duplex (double side print)

There are two ways to duplex (the term for double-side printing) at Swinburne.

1.Staff can get into the habit of duplexing each time they send a job to print from their computer. It can vary depending on the printer that is installed but here are the instructions for two types of printers (one B&W, the other color).

B&W printer
Go to File, then Print.
Click the Properties button
In the Layout tab select either flip on short/long side in the Print on Both Sides box.
Click OK.

Easy.

Color Printer
Go to File, then Print.
Click the Properties button
In the Finishing Tab select the Print on Both Sides option.
Click OK.

Also easy.

2. A better way to do this though is to set the default settings on your computer to duplex automatically. That means you only have to hit print and OK each time (like normal). You go through the process listed above to deselect the duplex options when you occasionally need single sided copies.

However, staff can't change these default settings themselves individually. Luckily, the good people at ITS can help you out. Here's how:
Find out how many computers need their settings changed.
Call ITS Help Desk (x5000)
Ask them to arrange a time to come and change the computers in your office to default duplex print settings.
If they are unwilling, say that Trevor has said this service is available.
Let them know how many computers need to be changed.
Try and be there when they arrive to show them which ones need to be changed.
Let your colleagues know that this change is happening and that ITS may need a few minutes with there computer.
