Paper: Print & Photocopy Double Sided

Download a Print & Photocopy Double Sided Information Flyer (Doc 40kb)

Background

Paper accounts for a large amount of waste generated at Swinburne University. By using both sides of each piece of paper we can significantly slow down the flow of paper products through the University’s offices. This can be done by photocopying and printing double-sided, as well as by increasing usage of once-used paper for note taking (which is the next tip’s theme). By using both sides of each sheet of paper, we will reduce our environmental impact at both the receiving and the discharging ends, as well as generate financial savings.

Most modern office machines have double-siding features – it will only take you a couple of minutes to learn how to use them, be paper-smart and make a real difference!

Action

bullet

Whenever possible, photocopy double-sided. Ask the admin staff in your department if you’re not sure how to do this.

Find out what other paper savings options your photocopier allows – if it’s not necessary to have a large font size, you can:
photocopy more than one page onto each sheet of paper, or
reduce from A3 to A4

bullet

Find out if your printer can double-side – if it does, why not set double-siding as the default?

Think About It...

Double-siding saves not only paper and money, but space and bulk as well.

By double-siding, you will save yourself some precious filing space, and reduce the size of your printed documents by half.
