NFEE National Trades and Professional Training
Initiatives
Purpose/Aim
The project comprises research scoping:
 |
the identification of trades and
professions that have an impact on energy efficiency, the
actions they influence and the estimated potential impact
on energy efficiency |
 |
the availability and uptake of
energy efficiency training and accreditation services for
Australian trades and professions |
 |
options for influencing the uptake
of energy efficiency by Australian trades and professions
through training and accreditation |
Stakeholders/Partners
The National Centre for Sustainability as the lead agency is using
extensive contacts across industry and universities to gather the
information required for this project. Precision Consulting and
Genesis Automation are assisting NCS by providing specialist advice
on industry training programs and energy efficiency impacts, respectively.
Background
This research project aims to inform the Trade and Professional
Training and Accreditation Group established under the National
Framework for Energy Efficiency (NFEE). The Group is one of six
with representatives across all Australian jurisdictions responsible
for implementing and the delivery of NFEE Implementation Plans agreed
by the Ministerial Council of Energy. The Sustainable Energy Authority
Victoria provides the Chair and Secretariat for the Group.
Project Status
The project commenced in July 2005 and the findings were presented
to the Trade and Professional Training and Accreditation Group in
October 2005. Final reports will be available from the NFEE website
in 2006.
Expected Outcomes
The project comprises two research reports.
The first report reviews the status of existing training and accreditation
programs for key trades and professions in Australia, and equivalent
programs available internationally.
The second report includes a gap analysis of energy efficiency
training and accreditation for Australian trades and professions
and identify options for the enhancement of existing courses or
development of new courses.
Research and analysis conducted will assist the NFEE Trade and
Professional Training and Accreditation Group in the implementation
of a package of initiatives. This package aims to position Australian
trades and professions to be able to deliver energy efficient services,
particularly in the long-term.
