NFEE Accreditation Guidelines Research
Purpose/Aim
This research project under the National Framework for Energy Efficiency (NFEE) is to develop guidelines for the establishment and implementation of industry accreditation for skilled energy efficiency service providers.
The aim of establishing and implementing
these guidelines will be to:
 |
Provide nationally recognised accreditation or certification requirements as an incentive for trades people and professional workers to undertake energy efficiency training or to advertise their skills in energy efficiency. |
 |
Establish these nationally recognised accreditation or certification requirements in energy efficiency from professional bodies, relevant industry groups and governments, as a long-term driver for the continued focus on the improvement of skills and the delivery of quality services within the energy efficiency sector. |
Stakeholders/Partners
The NFEE Trade and Professional Training and Accreditation Group has engaged the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne to undertake the project.
Background
This research project aims to inform the Trade and Professional Training and Accreditation Group established under the National Framework for Energy Efficiency (NFEE). The Group is one of six with representatives across all Australian jurisdictions responsible for implementing and the delivery of NFEE Implementation Plans agreed by the Ministerial Council of Energy. Sustainability Victoria provides the Chair and Secretariat for the Group.
Project Status
The project commenced in March 2006 with an expected completion date of August 2006.
Expected Outcomes
NCS will provide a research report which:
 |
documents examples of accreditation systems, identifying the key success factors of successful systems and the barriers to unsuccessful systems; |
 |
outlines a set of accreditation guidelines for the development of a successful accreditation system, covering financing of administration services, quality assurance, promoting measures and evaluation of outcomes. |
