Kangan Batman TAFE - Sustainability Curricula Review

Purpose/Aim of Project

The purpose of the review of Kangan Batman TAFE (KBT) courses was to estimate the current ‘education for sustainability' content of KBT courses, and to make suggestions for building this up. The project included a desk top review of course documentation, and a canvassing of KBT staff and management views on how education for sustainability currently operates, and might operate better in the future at KBT. It was intended that recommendations would be made for ‘education for sustainability' initiatives that would contribute to a general improvement in KBT's teaching and learning program.

Stakeholders/Partners

The principal stakeholders were EPA Victoria and Kangan Batman TAFE.

Background

The National Centre for Sustainability (NCS) Swinburne carried out this project to help KBT achieve some of the commitments made under the Sustainability Covenant of Dec 2004 with EPA Victoria.

‘Education and Training for work' is KBT's core business – and this review is part of a process to identify how sustainability can best be built into, or enhanced in, KBT programs to allow KBT to more readily fulfill its vision to be the ‘Learning Partner of Choice'.

Project Status

The project commenced in October 2005 and was completed at the end of February 2006.
