Objectives
The development of a sustainability policy and strategy which integrates and aligns with existing systems and environmental initiatives, supported by a comprehensive staff engagement process to ensure delivery of a value-added model sustainability framework which translates to other GWF sites.
Background:
George Weston Foods Limited (GWF) is one of the largest food manufacturers in Australia as well as exporting flour and frozen baked products to the Asian region. GWF currently employs over 5,500 people at 38 manufacturing sites around Australia and New Zealand. The key activities of GWF’s Meat & Dairy Division’s (Don Small Goods in Altona) are the manufacture, sale and distribution of processed meat (bacon, ham, sausages, pate, frankfurts, salamis, and other European style smallgoods) butter, cheese and soy yoghurt. GWF is committed to reducing the environmental impact of the businesses while continuing to provide high quality products and services that meet the needs of their consumers.
