Sustainable Energy for TAFE Professionals
Purpose/Aim of Project
The objective of this project is to trigger
a substantial increase in the sustainability of energy use in the
TAFE sector. This will be achieved by and delivering information,
tools and skills to TAFE management and staff.
Stakeholders/Partners
Partnering the National Centre for Sustainability
is Sustainability Victoria, who will provide implementation support.
Through Sustainability Victoria, the Victorian State Government
is assisting organisations to undertake initiatives that enable
step change improvements in energy supply, use and management.
Project Background
Sustainability Victoria wishes to build
the awareness of sustainable energy opportunities and capacity to
implement projects in the TAFE sector. Sustainability Victoria has
recently provided some training and direct assistance to TAFE Facility
Managers and has developed demonstration project partnerships with
eleven TAFEs.
Swinburne University of Technology is a
member of the National Centre for Sustainability and manages TAFE
facilities. Swinburne University of Technology has the potential
to contribute important leadership in the TAFE sector through demonstration
of energy management, energy efficient facilities and systems.
Project Status
Phase 1 of the project commenced in January
2006 with an expected completion date of March 2006.
Expected Outcomes
NCS will facilitate a Consultative Group
for the project made up of partners and identified external stakeholders
and also convene and administer Working Groups of Facility Managers,
Administrative staff and Teaching Staff. These groups will assist
NCS in:

Conducting needs assessments, including
examining the needs of Facility Managers and the gaps in current
support and information provided |

Conducting a review of materials
required and available |
NCS will produce plans for the delivery
and of development of information, tools and skills to TAFE management
and staff. These aim to assist TAFEs to identify and capture significant
financial and environmental savings in further project stages.
