Background
This project is national in focus with
representation from most states and territories around the country
on the project reference committees. This website is updated regularly
to communicate the progress of the Knowledge and Skills project.
A number of resources that will assist you in understanding more
about the role of sustainability in VET are located on the ‘Resource

PHASE I
The National Centre for Sustainability
worked throughout 2005 on 'Knowledge and Skills for Sustainability'
projects with a wide range of stakeholders from government, industry,
Industry Skills Councils, ITABS, RTOs and environmental educators
to develop the Guideline Competency Standards for Sustainability
(GCSS).
On the 3rd of May, 2005 the GCSS were officially
‘Noted’ by the National Training Quality Council. The
GCSS are located on the National Training Information Service website
(www.ntis.gov.au) and are now able to be imported into Training
Packages.

PHASE II
NCS completed Phase II at the end of 2006 with support from Sustainability
Victoria and in partnership with Innovation and Business Skills
Australia and Construction and Property Services Industry Skills
Council.
