NCS Swinburne goes Hybrid
November 2008
The National Centre for Sustainability has recently taken possession of a Toyota Prius hybrid car.
The Prius emits just 106g per km of carbon dioxide. In comparison, most cars produce between 250 and 400 grams of carbon emissions per kilometre.
The Prius has an official combined cycle fuel consumption of 4.4 litres/100km. An average petrol car uses around 11.2 litres/100km.
Prius was the first car to achieve 5 stars on the Green Vehicle guide published by the Australian Greenhouse office.
