Making sense of Sustainability in Small Business: What is it? Why do it and how?

March 2005

The National Centre for Sustainability is participating in the 2005 Swinburne Innovation Festival.

This year we are running an information session on sustainability and small business.

Date: Wednesday 11 May
Time: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Venue: Hawthorn Campus, Room to be advised
Contact: Scott McKenzie, 9214 5302

Abstract of event:

Incorporating sustainability into core business is becoming increasingly important for managers in the modern economy. Customers, shareholders and decision makers are recognising that taking a holistic view of business operations – including sound management of people and the environment – ultimately makes good business sense as the benefits feed back directly into the economic bottom line.

But what does sustainability mean for small to medium sized business. Does it require additional skills and resources? Is it just another concept to incorporate into an already busy life?

This session will explore these questions and identify how small to medium sized business can quickly and easily move towards a more sustainable footing.
