Living for our Future Project: Workshops on Sustainable Living

Are you a supporter of environmental sustainability but not sure how to incorporate this into everyday life? If this describes you please consider registering for the Living for our Future program or encourage someone you know to register.

What is the program about?

Council is calling for participants to attend a series of free workshops on the following issues:

bullet

Water in the home and garden

bullet

Energy in the home

bullet

Waste in and around the house

bullet

Transport

bullet

Healthy homes

bullet

Sustainable consumption

Here you will learn how to incorporate principles of sustainability into your llifestyle and track your progress using tools such as the EPA of Victoria's Ecological Footprint monitoring tool and the Australian Greenhouse Calculator designed by the Australian Greenhouse Office.

A range of guest speakers will present on the topics outlines and you will receive a rage of resources to assist you in developing a sustainable lifestyle. Light refreshments will be provided

We strongly encourage any community groups to nominate members of their organisations to come along, and to spread the sustainability message among their membership.

Who is involved?

The project is being coordinated jointly by City of Boroondara and the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology. It has received funding from the Department of Sustainability and Environment's 2004 Community Action Fund and from Origin Energy Pty Ltd.

When will the workshops by held?

One workshop will be held per month from February to July 2005 at the Municipal Offices in Inglesby Road, Camberwell. There will be two groups, with the dates for each group as follows:

Workshops for Group 1:

Tuesday 15 February
Tuesday 8 March
Tuesday 19 April
Tuesday 24 May
Wednesday 15 June
Tuesday 12 July

Workshops for Group 2:

Tuesday 22 February
Tuesday 22 March
Wednesday 27 April
Tuesday 31 May
Tuesday 21 June
Tuesday 19 July

Workshops will be held from either 6:30 - 8:30pm or 7:00 - 9:00pm. Applicants are asked to indicate their time preferences when registering.
