NET Working for Sustainability

About the Network

Net Working for Sustainability was a network established in 2006 consisting of VET staff, at individual TAFE’s and across industry, to provide training, resources and opportunities for developing skills and expertise in delivering short and/or accredited courses in sustainability and environmental management. The anticipated network content and outcomes included delivery of training of; 'Sustainability Education', 'Triple Bottom Line' concept, environmental calculators and it also addressed the new Guideline Standards for Sustainability for industry, just to name a few. Training provided was relevant to teaching needs and training packages.

The network encouraged knowledge sharing and relationship building between individuals, organisations and the VET sector with regards to sustainability and environmental management. The goals and objectives of the network were developed through a consultation process with network members at the first forum.

Network participants were able to connect with the network through forums, website, email bulletins and phone link up. The level of involvement was completely up to the participant as different levels of involvement was catered for. Three forums were held in 2006, focusing on three separate themes of; energy, water and waste, with further forums in 2007 were held. Forums provided participants with an opportunity to listen to a range of guest speakers and collect useful materials and resources.

The established network consisted of both open and closed connections, which suited the diverse and dispersed industry and also suited the variability of participants wanting different levels of involvement. An objective of this network was to be ongoing beyond 2006, including continual relationship building, access to resources and support to participants.

No payment was required to join the network.
