Traditional knowledge and organic farming in Saraburi, Thailand

Saraburi province is located approximately 150kms from the Thai capital Bangkok and is host to one of Thailand 's major rice plains. The Pasak River flows through this province supplying the community with fresh water for industrial, agricultural and domestic use. These human induced pressures on the river, coupled with the application of modern farming methods places at risk the health of the river system, especially in the areas of erosion and water pollution.

A number of members of the Pasak River Basin Network are actively working to re-educate local farmers of the indigenous knowledge and organic farming practices. They hope that by going back to traditional methods the health of the river and the life that it provides to the community will improve.
