What did Lake Learmonth look like when it had water in it when you were young?

It looked a lot better than it is now. It used to have a lot of water in it. My friends and I built jumps on the jetty and jumped right in the water with our bikes.

There were lots more trees but now they have cut a lot of them down. There were also lots of boats and a bit of rowing and heaps of skiing and swimming competitions. Lake Learmonth had tones of fish in it. I used to catch a lot using worms and yabbies. It was great fun. The worms never let me down.

What has changed since then?

A lot has changed. There was a huge pine tree plantation over the other side of the caravan park. They’ve built a new play ground at the yacht club. There was ski-able water in the lake and fish in it until the drought took effect.

How and why has it changed? What caused the change?

Well the lake is dry because it hasn’t rained and mostly because of the drought.

How dose it make you feel?

Sad because there’s no fish and I can’t put my new boat in for a spin.
