Background

In 2006, EPA Victoria in partnership with VicWater and the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology commissioned the development of a trade waste training resource (Liquid Trade Waste Management). The resulting training course now holds accreditation by the Victorian Qualifications Authority (VQA) as a Certificate IV in Liquid Trade Waste Management.

This course includes four units of competency developed to specifically address best practice trade waste management. These units, designed in consultation with the Hatlar Group (with significant input from key members of the Victorian water industry), are based on the “Guidelines for best practice trade waste management by water businesses”, a joint initiative of VicWater and EPA Victoria.
