Background
In 2006, EPA Victoria in partnership with VicWater and the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology commissioned the development of a trade waste training resource (Liquid Trade Waste Management). The resulting training course now holds accreditation by the Victorian Qualifications Authority (VQA) as a Certificate IV in Liquid Trade Waste Management.
This course includes four units of competency developed to specifically address best practice trade waste management. These units, designed in consultation with the Hatlar Group (with significant input from key members of the Victorian water industry), are based on the “Guidelines for best practice trade waste management by water businesses”, a joint initiative of VicWater and EPA Victoria.
Course structure and delivery
The liquid trade waste competencies will enable participants to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of effective and best practice liquid trade waste management, with substantial depth in specific industry areas.
This course is delivered by key staff from the Hatlar Group and is offered as 10 sessions over 5 weeks, with 2 full days of training per week and includes a one day site visit.
