Important information for DoCM prospective students

Your participation in the Diploma of Carbon Management (DoCM) will require you to work extensively with a case study organisation. This may be the organisation you currently work for or another organisation of your choice. Ideally it will be a medium size business or a smaller part of a large organisation.

It is important that this organisation is committed to assisting you in your studies and participating in a number of workplace projects and initiatives over the ten month period of the course. It is critical that you have identified the organisation and gained their active support to participate in the following activities

  • An energy and resource audit of the workplace
  • A carbon inventory and report
  • A cost benefit analysis of resource efficiency and carbon abatement opportunities
  • Development of a carbon management plan, including policy, strategy and action plans
  • Implementation of a behaviour change project directed at saving carbon emissions
  • A final report on the effectiveness of the plan’s implementation

To successfully undertake these activities, the organisation must commit to providing you appropriate access to their facilities, data, information systems and key staff members before you begin the course.
