Sustainability Reporting in Practice (SUSRU1H)
Sustainability Reporting in Practice is delivered through two face-to-face sessions at the Hawthorn Campus, Swinburne University. The two-day course covers recognised international reporting frameworks and their application to meet organisational needs. Participants will be mentored by leading industry experts in the area of sustainability reporting and assurance. The activity-based sessions will focus on the practical application of reporting principles to a number of scenarios.
Students will benefit from case study presentations from reporting practitioners and will have opportunity to apply these learnings and approaches within their own context. This course has been developed to assist organisations and industries who recognise the value of demonstrating transparency and accountability beyond the traditional domain of financial performance. Its aims are to build organisational capacity to report on non-financial impacts (including impacts to the environmental and community).
- Understand the business case for sustainability and how to effectively communicate the benefits of sustainability reporting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of international frameworks for reporting (e.g. GRI, AA1000, Global Compact, ISO and others).
- Demonstrate knowledge of Australian State and Federal legislative requirements.
- Learn to apply the principles of sustainability reporting within the local context
- Use reporting principles such as materiality, inclusivity, relevance, auditability, accuracy, transparency and stakeholder engagement.
- Scope a report format and content including vision and strategy, profile, governance and performance indicators.
