Living for our Future - City of Boroondara
STATUS:COMPLETED
The Living for our Future commenced as a pilot initiative in 2005 that was supported by funding from the Victorian Government Sustainability Fund. Following the successful pilot, the project partners enabled the program to be taken to a wider community audience in the 2006-2009 period.
The Living for our Future program aimed to work with households across the City of Boroondara to work towards living more sustainably at home. The Council, in conjunction with the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology, worked closely with the community to encourage environmentally preferred behaviours in the City of Boroondara, including:
- reducing use of natural resources;
- reducing production of waste;
- decreasing use of car transport;
- increasing use of products made from recycled or non toxic materials, and improve community engagement.
The successful Living for our Future model was carried across to the City of Whitehorse.
