Transfield Services Short Course in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Action Planning (EESAP)

The National Centre for Sustainability (NCS) at Swinburne University of Technology was contacted by Transfield Services, an Australian-based company that delivers a wide range of services in the resources and industrial, infrastructure services and property and facilities management sectors.
Transfield Services sought to provide their staff members with accredited training in sustainability and energy efficiency in order to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to meet the needs of their clients and also to provide them with a competitive advantage in the fast-evolving area of energy-efficiency.
Working in partnership, Transfield Services the NCS were successful in applying for funding from the NSW Government’s Department of Environment, Climate Change, and Water (DECCW) as part of their Energy Efficiency Training Program.
Following a training needs analysis to meet Transfield’s requirements, the NCS developed a Short Course in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Action Planning (EESAP) that comprised of four existing accredited units of study.

The training is being delivered to a selected number of Transfield staff and incorporates both face-to-face delivery and on-line learning. Participants are required to undertake on-the-job projects as part of their assessments.
This pilot project is due to finish in December 2010.
