Swin-PsyCHE
Swinburne Psychological Clinical Health and Evaluation (Swin-PsyCHE) is a research unit that incorporates staff from Swinburne Psychology and encompasses a wide-ranging skills base including clinical, counselling, health, and developmental psychologists, methodologists, and program evaluators.
Professor Michael Kyrios (mkyrios@swin.edu.au) and Associate Professor Greg Murray (gwm@swin.edu.au) are co-directors of Swin-PsyCHE.
Our Mission is to enhance the welfare of individuals, groups and the community through research on contemporary psychological and social issues.
We aim for excellence in psychological science and practice, embracing innovation, skills development, and an emphasis on well-being.
Our focus is the investigation of behaviour, emotion and cognition, and the practical application of findings in clinical, health and social settings.
SwinPsyCHE concentrates on four main fields of research, with specific researchers undertaking particular projects within these fields:
- Basic Psychological research identifying psychological processes and factors relevant to our understanding of the human condition;
- Clinical & counselling research identifying psychological processes and factors relevant to our understanding of mental illness and other clinical concerns, and their assessment and management;
- Health-related research identifying psychological factors associated with medical illnesses;
- Evaluation research focusing on program and policy development, especially with respect to service delivery and systems of care.
The Swin-PsyCHE electronic journal EJAP (e-Journal of Applied Psychology) is published bi-annually. EJAP is now listed on SCOPUS and EBSCO host. http://ojs.lib.swin.edu.au/index.php/ejap
Research activities in SwinPsyche are strongly integrated with the postgraduate teaching programs in Psychological Sciences and Statistics. SwinPsycheresearchers form the core academic teams for Clinical and Counselling Psychology programs, and students enrolled in these programs typically undertake research projects in a SwinPsyche area.
