Biography
Professor Peter Newton holds a research appointment in sustainable urbanism at the Institute for Social Research at Swinburne University of Technology. He is the author or editor of more than 20 books on cities, planning, and sustainability. Prior to joining Swinburne in 2007, Peter held the position of Chief Research Scientist at CSIRO, where he led the Urban Systems Program, as well as being Program Director, Sustainability, in the CRC for Construction Innovation. He is a member of the Sustainable Urban Development Program in the CRC for Spatial Information which began in 2010, a member of the Board of the national Centre for Sustainability and Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Australian Urban Research Information Network.
