Biography
Dr Andrea Sharam is a research fellow at the ISR. She has published in the fields of household consumption, consumer rights, energy efficiency, homelessness and housing. Andrea has a graduate diploma in urban planning and policy and her Phd thesis explored sub-prime markets in essential services. She was the President, between 1996 and 2003, of the Energy Action Group, a consumer and environmental organisation advocating on domestic electricity, gas and water provision. Andrea was elected to the Moreland City Council in 2004, for a four year term. At Moreland Council she sat on the Urban Planning Committee and was Councillor Responsible for Affordable Housing. She is the immediate past Chair of Women’s Information Support and Housing in the North (WISHIN) a special homelessness service for single women and their children.
