About Psychophysiology at Swinburne

The psychophysiology major at Swinburne provides graduates with skills in physiology and physiological measurement - with a major focus on neuroscience (including sensory and motor function), neurological monitoring, normal and abnormal brain function.

Theoretical learning is coupled to extensive practical experience.

The psychophysiology major also emphasises an understanding of physiological processes relevant to the study of psychology.

Students complete majors in both psychology and psychophysiology as part of their studies towards a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.

Research


The Sensory Neuroscience Laboratory undertakes research into a variety of sensory-related aspects of physiological performance

The Centre for Neuropsychology conducts high quality multidisciplinary applied, theoretical/experimental and clinical research that draws upon a number of scientific disciplines including Psychopharmacology, Organisational Psychology, Neuropsychology, Psychophysiology, and Psychiatry

The Brain Sciences Institute has adopted a multidisciplinary research strategy combining functional neuroimaging techniques such as high-spatial resolution brain electrical recording and functional magnetic resonance imaging with the disciplines of neuropharmacology,neuropsychology , neuropsychiatry and psychophysiology.

Industry Based Learning in Psychophysiology (IBL)

Swinburne's Psychophysiology courses include an optional Industry-Based Learning (IBL) year in which you may be placed in paid, supervised employment as part of your degree. IBL gives you practical experiences and a proven advantage in the job market.
