Stress_Less@Swin - A Program for VCE Students
Help is on the way: Support for Victorian Students Completing Years 10-12.
Students face many challenges in their school life including completing assignments, choosing subjects, identifying career paths and managing a range of relationships. To help manage these potential stresses, the Psychology Clinic has developed the Stress_Less@Swin program for secondary students in years 10-12. Sessions can be conducted on-site at metropolitan schools in Melbourne or in small groups at Swinburne University, Hawthorn.
Stress_Less@Swin
The Stress_Less@Swin program is designed to help students managing stress, take care of their mental health and keep motivated throughout VCE.
By participating in this program students learn to:
- understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviour
- increase their problem solving skills
- identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns
- detect and better manage feelings of anxiety and depressed mood
- use a variety of relaxation strategies
- set achievable goals that include sub-goals and plans to overcome obstacles
Group Information
The Stress_Less@Swin workshop has been designed for students in years 10-12. Each group is facilitated by two counsellors and we generally reccommend having 10-20 students in each workshop.
Dates and Location
The Stress_Less@Swin program can be run whenever a school is wanting their VCE students to de-stress! We have run the program just before exam time or at the beginning of the year in preparation for VCE. The program can be run at Swinburne or at your school.
