What is the focus of this degree?

With the rapid emergence of new and digital media, we have designed this course to sit at the forefront of these changes to provide up-to-date new media skills employers are looking for.

You can choose your study stream according to your media interests and career aims, focusing on one of three main themes:

  • journalism
  • digital content
  • production media and communications policy

Is this course for me?

It's for anyone with a related undergraduate degree, or substantial relevant experience, who wants to update their knowledge base and gain hands-on skills in journalism, digital media, online communications and new media arts.

Our course is great if you're looking to move into a role in a media-related industry or, if you're already working in the media, enhance your current knowledge.

You'll learn new-media skills such as communications in an online environment as well as traditional media skills like journalism and radio production.

The course is theoretical, as well as hands-on, so you get the academic and real world experience.


What are my study options?

This is the final qualification in a three-stage nested suite of courses, which means you gain qualifications as you go, adding flexibility to your course and smooth progression from one level of understanding and knowledge to the next.

You can choose to study full-time or part-time, and many electives and core units are offered in the evenings from 6-9 pm. You will also need to spend time in private study and time working on projects.
