What is the focus of this degree?

When your job involves sorting out everyone else's careers, make sure you don't forget your own.

Our Career Development course provides you with the knowledge and skills to become a professional careers manager.

If you're already working in the industry, it is the required minimum qualification that professional career counsellors must have by 2012.

The course looks at:

  • Ethical standards
  • Theory, counselling and client management skills
  • Knowledge of the career decision-making process
  • Transition coaching

You then choose a study stream which aligns with your career development interests from one of five streams:

  • Career development in organisations
  • Career management and private practice
  • Career case management
  • Career-life coaching third age clients
  • Career development in education settings

Is this course for me?

Our course is for anyone working as, or wanting to work as, a professional careers manager/counsellor, and has been designed to meet the need for nationally recognised and endorsed 'professional standards' for the career profession.

To be eligible you should have an undergraduate degree, and some relevant industry experience.

The Graduate Diploma in Career Development forms the second stage of a nested suite of studies. We teach this course online, and full or part-time study options are available.
