have shaped our contemporary world view.

Develops abilities in problem solving, communication, the ability to organise ideas effectively and to understand complex material .

Can be studied as a major within either a Bachelor
of Arts or Social Science, or within any double degree program
which incorporates one of these.

Three years full-time study for a single degree or four years full-time study for a double degree at Hawthorn Campus.

About Philosophy and Cultural Inquiry at Swinburne
Philosophy and Cultural Inquiry at Swinburne seeks to promote both philosophical understanding and critical and creative thought.
Students are introduced to the techniques of philosophical inquiry and learn conceptual analysis, argument construction and evaluation and the ability to reason effectively.
Issues considered in first year include: mind and body, personal identity, free will and determinism, reality, knowledge, ethics and morality. A variety of other topics of contemporary relevance are discussed at later stages.
