The Brain Sciences Institute (BSI) is a major research and postgraduate teaching facility with a focus on the field of human neurosciences and functional brain imaging.

The Brain Sciences Institute is working to support schools in the creation of learning environments that optimise the emotional, social, academic and physical development of children and adolescents to assist them to become happy, healthy and productive members of society.

Conference on Emotional Intelligence in Secondary Schools

The Brain Sciences Institute, Swinburne University of Technology recently held a 1-day conference on the topic of Emotional Intelligence in Secondary Schools.

This 1-day conference, sponsored by Genos Pty Ltd, included keynote addresses, lectures and workshops, and covered a number of topics including;

- What is Emotional Intelligence?
- Developing Emotional Intelligence
- The relationship between EI and occupational stress in teachers
- Positive relationships and effective emotional management
- Emotional Intelligence and curriculum
- Adolescent Emotional Intelligence and academic achievement
- Developing Emotional Intelligence in children and adolescents

The presenters included Emotional Intelligence researchers, teachers and educational psychologists working in the area of adolescent and organisational emotional intelligence.
